A Research Group Dedicated to Counselling and Clinical Psychology

Thrive Research Group is dedicated to performing research in counselling and clinical psychology.  The research group is part of a non-profit based in British Columbia.

The group operates on a research mentor model where doctoral students are paired with teams of four to five undergraduates on projects.  Projects are either initiated by research affiliates, research mentors or proposed by research assistants and accepted by a panel.

Research assistants are regularly evaluated on core competencies related to research: professionalism, conceptualization of research, design of research methods, IRB preparation, data collection, data analysis and presentation of research findings.

All research projects using human subject data are required to undergo approval from an accredited Institutional Review Board.  Members who are affiliated with institutions and wish to publish as their affiliates work with the group's research coordinator to ensure they are compliant.  In the interests of ethical attribution and academic integrity, all projects adhere to the CRediT system.

We welcome interested research assistants to apply for mentorship.  While we strive to acknowledge all applicants, we typically are only able to accept around 5% of applications.  Successful applicants typically have strong writing skills and grades.

Current projects include topics related to tolerance of uncertainty/predictors of resilience in patients with Alports syndrome, diabetes and the validation of the CDAT across marginalized populations.  The group is also working on a national directory of mental health/career resources.
